Yangpyeong County Wins Awards in Two Categories at Han River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation

Grand Prize in Resident Support Project, Encouragement Prize in Total Pollution Load Management Project

Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jinseon) announced on the 23rd that it received the Grand Prize in the Resident Support Project category and the Encouragement Prize in the Total Pollution Load Management Project category at the "2024 Han River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation" conducted by the Han River Basin Environmental Office on the 19th.

In the Resident Support Project category, Yangpyeong County was selected as the top institution (with a reward of 5 million won) due to high evaluations for the appropriateness of project management and achievements in improving resident convenience. In the Total Pollution Load Management Project, the county was recognized for its performance in managing the implementation of the Total Water Pollution Load System and was named an encouragement institution (with a reward of 3 million won).


This 2024 performance evaluation was conducted with the participation of 52 management offices, covering seven projects: resident support, environmental infrastructure, water source management, ecological river restoration, eco-friendly and clean initiatives, and total pollution load management.


The Han River Basin Environmental Office stated, "Yangpyeong County is an exemplary case of balancing projects that residents can feel and a water quality improvement management system."


Meanwhile, as a result of its proposal to increase the resident support project budget, Yangpyeong County secured 1.1 billion won for the 2026 resident support project. It was also recognized as an excellent institution for its 2024 resident support project budget execution rate and will receive an additional incentive of about 550 million won. Based on this, the county plans to continuously strengthen efforts to improve the quality of life for local residents and to protect water sources.
