Energy Efficiency Innovation Support Project
Enhancing Competitiveness of SMEs
The Korea Productivity Center (KPC) announced on the 23rd that the "Energy Efficiency Innovation Support Project for Root Companies" has delivered tangible results in reducing energy consumption and strengthening technology protection capabilities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This project is supported by Korea Gas Corporation.
Now in its third year, the project provides customized support programs tailored to industry characteristics, helping SMEs reduce energy costs and supporting carbon reduction efforts. This year, the project supported a total of 25 root companies, achieving energy savings of 1,377,064 kWh and greenhouse gas reductions of 632.6 tons of CO₂.

For example, Yuseong Precision Industry, an automotive parts and mold manufacturer, introduced a high-efficiency inverter-type air compressor through this support project, achieving a 30.1% reduction in energy consumption compared to previous usage.
This package-type project consists of: ▲factory energy diagnosis and carbon reduction consulting by KPC professional consultants; ▲support for the introduction of high-efficiency and carbon-neutral process innovation equipment; and ▲technology protection support, including registration of technology data escrow contracts and customized education for intellectual property protection. The subsidy for high-efficiency equipment to promote energy efficiency innovation has been gradually increased: 4 million won in 2023, 5 million won in 2024, and 6 million won this year.
Kim Taeksoo, Head of the KPC Environment and Energy Consulting Center, stated, "We provided specialized support for root industries with high energy cost burdens, which led to practical improvements tailored to the process characteristics of each company," adding, "We will continue to contribute to energy efficiency and carbon reduction in the future."
