Announcement Just 5 Minutes Before Air:
"Host Replaced Due to Personal Circumstances"
MBC Radio Standard FM's "Jung Heewon's Radio Comma," hosted by slow-aging expert Jung Heewon, has been discontinued amid controversy over his private life.
On the morning of the 22nd, just five minutes before the regular broadcast, the production team announced, "Due to the host's personal circumstances, 'Radio Culture Center' will be aired instead," and added, "We ask for your understanding, dear listeners."
Effectively, the show was discontinued after the broadcast on the 19th. The "Radio Comma" team deleted its official Instagram account, and all content from its YouTube channel, which had about 20,000 subscribers, has been made private. MBC stated, "This decision was made due to the host's personal circumstances."
Jung is known as an expert who introduced the concept of "slow aging" in Korea. After resigning from his position as a professor of geriatric medicine at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, he began hosting the program in July last year. Recently, he also expressed his intention to resign to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and is expected to step down from his role as General Health Director.
Jung filed a complaint against a woman in her 30s, identified as Ms. A, who worked as a commissioned researcher, accusing her of attempted extortion and trespassing, claiming that she had been stalking him. In response, Ms. A countered that it was "gender-based violence arising from a power imbalance" and filed a counter-complaint for forcible molestation. Ms. A is also reported to have filed additional charges, including forcible molestation by abuse of authority, violation of copyright law, false accusation, and defamation. During this process, parts of the messages exchanged between the two were made public.
