Gyeongju City announced on December 22 that the participant registration schedule for the 33rd Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon has been postponed due to a surge in access to the registration site.
According to the city, immediately after registration opened, the number of simultaneous visitors exceeded three times last year’s figure, causing a temporary delay in the registration system.

To ensure a stable registration environment, the city began server inspections and system upgrades, and accordingly adjusted the registration schedule.
The revised registration schedule is as follows: from 10:00 a.m. on the 29th for the half marathon (4,000 participants); from 10:00 a.m. on the 30th for the 10 km course (7,000 participants); and from 10:00 a.m. on the 31st for the 5 km course (4,000 participants).
The total number of participants, 15,000, will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year’s registration will only be available through individual application and card payment.
However, only those who have completed individual registration will be eligible to apply for conversion to group participation during the registration period, following the procedures announced at that time.
A Gyeongju City official stated, “Due to the high level of interest from runners nationwide, there was a temporary surge in site traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the registration delays and will do our utmost to ensure a stable registration process and safe event management.”
The 33rd Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon will be held on April 4, 2026, in the Bomun Tourist Complex area of Gyeongju.
