Simultaneous Recognition for Consumption Coupons and Local Gift Certificates
Securing 350 Million Won in Special Grants
Mungyeong City has achieved top honors in two categories in the central government assessment, highlighting its accomplishments in livelihood economy policies.
The city announced that it was selected as both an "Outstanding Local Government for Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon Implementation" and an "Outstanding Local Government for Local Love Gift Certificate Issuance" in the 2025 local government evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a total of 350 million won in special grants.
The evaluation of livelihood recovery consumption coupon implementation comprehensively reviewed the execution performance and overall operation of local governments across the country.
The main evaluation criteria included the performance of coupon distribution, achievements in expanding usage and participating merchants, efforts to improve the convenience of application and distribution, promotional results, and the identification and dissemination of best practices. Mungyeong City received high marks for its swift distribution system and field-oriented operations, securing a special grant of 100 million won.
The evaluation for outstanding local governments in issuing Local Love Gift Certificates reflected the efforts of cities, counties, and districts to issue their own certificates, as well as their performance in utilizing national funds.
Mungyeong City was recognized for increasing the recharge limit and discount rate of the Mungyeong Love Gift Certificate, which stimulated local consumption and boosted sales for small businesses, resulting in an additional special grant of 250 million won.
In implementing the consumption coupon policy, Mungyeong City formed a dedicated task force and focused on enhancing administrative accessibility, such as by expanding on-site application services. These efforts were credited with increasing the effectiveness of the policy, leading to a high application rate and stable execution.
Kim Donghyun, Director of the Job and Economy Division of Mungyeong City, stated, "This achievement is the result of the active participation of our citizens and the dedication of public officials on the ground," adding, "We will continue to steadfastly promote livelihood-centered policies that citizens and small business owners can truly feel in their daily lives."
