Naming Contest Concluded for Yangju Youth Center Relocation and Expansion
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province has successfully concluded its naming contest for the relocation and expansion of the Youth Center and will proceed with a second round of evaluation through a national vote to select the final name.
The Yangju Youth Center, which opened in 2019, is currently operating on the third floor (467 square meters) of the Yangju Employment Welfare Plus Center. In the first half of 2026, it is scheduled to relocate to the (tentatively named) Hoecheon 1-dong Complex Government Building, expanding to 710.69 square meters on the fifth floor and 608.20 square meters on the sixth floor.
To discover a new name that embodies an identity and symbolism befitting the expanded and relocated Youth Center, the city held a naming contest from November 19 to December 2, 2025, receiving a total of 425 entries.
The first round of evaluation was conducted based on criteria such as creativity, symbolism, clarity, popularity, applicability, and duplication with existing institution names. As a result, six entries were shortlisted: ▲Cheongnyeon Masil ▲Cheongchun, Wiro ▲Cheongnyeon Jupasu ▲Cheongchun Onsil ▲Cheongnyeon Center 'Root' ▲The Peer 'Bom' Youth Center.
From December 22 to December 28, 2025, the city will conduct a national vote through the 'Gukmin Saenggakham' platform for these six shortlisted entries as part of the second round of evaluation. Based on the voting results, one grand prize, one excellence prize, and one encouragement prize will be selected.
The winners will receive prize money of 300,000 won for the grand prize, 200,000 won for the excellence prize, and 100,000 won for the encouragement prize. Additionally, among those who participate in the national vote, ten individuals will be randomly selected to receive mobile gift certificates or other prizes.
An official from Yangju City stated, "With the relocation and expansion of the Youth Center, we hope that a friendly and meaningful name will be chosen for both youth and citizens, and we encourage everyone to show great interest and participate."
