On December 19, Changdeok Heo, Deputy County Governor of Geumsan, visited Nonsan City to share updates on the progress of the Central East-West Expressway construction project and to emphasize the need for joint action to ensure its inclusion in the National Road Network Comprehensive Plan.
This visit was arranged as Deputy County Governor Heo met with Youngkwan Kim, Deputy Mayor of Nonsan, to strengthen the cooperation framework between the two regions.
The Central East-West Expressway construction project aims to establish a wide-area transportation network connecting Muju and Gunsan in North Jeolla Province, Yeongdong in North Chungcheong Province, and Geumsan and Nonsan in South Chungcheong Province. If implemented, the project is expected to improve convenience of travel between regions and facilitate logistics flows, thereby enhancing transportation efficiency and contributing to balanced regional development.
Previously, on December 16, Geumsan County visited the Road Policy Division of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to explain the necessity of the project and discuss cooperation measures for its inclusion in the national plan.
This visit to Nonsan City is part of Geumsan County's ongoing preliminary planning and feasibility study services. The county plans to continue discussions with Nonsan City to further strengthen the foundation for advancing the project.
