On December 19, Osan City announced that it had signed a business agreement with SDPD Co., Ltd. at city hall to promote the "Gwoldong Cultural Park Private Park Development Special Project."
The Private Park Development Special Project is a system introduced in July 2020 to resolve the issue of long-term unexecuted urban parks. Under this system, a private developer creates a park on the designated site and donates it to the city, while constructing non-park facilities such as apartment complexes on the remaining land.
Through the agreement attended by Lee Kwonjae, Mayor of Osan, and Lee Byungkwon, CEO of SDPD, the city and the company agreed to cooperate on all matters necessary for the project, including implementation plan approval, donation of the park, and settlement of project costs.
For this project, which will be carried out in San 17-3, Gwoldong, Osan, SDPD will purchase the entire park site, develop 107,961 square meters-71.2% of the total area-as a park and donate it to the city, while constructing apartment complexes on the remaining 43,660 square meters.
A city official stated, "This agreement has laid the foundation for the development of Gwoldong Cultural Park, which had been left unexecuted for a long time," and added, "We will continue to provide thorough administrative support so that procedures such as implementation plan approval and park donation can proceed smoothly."
