"National AI" to Announce First Achievements at COEX on the 30th

Model Demonstrations and Presentations by Five Elite Teams
Phase Evaluation to Be Conducted by January 15 Next Month

The first achievements of the national artificial intelligence (AI) model development project will be released at the end of the year.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on December 22 that, together with the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, it will hold the first presentation for the "Independent AI Foundation Model Project" at 2:30 p.m. on December 30 at the COEX Auditorium in Seoul.

Five elite teams selected in August will participate in this event: Naver Cloud, Upstage, SK Telecom, NC AI, and LG Academy AI Research Institute. Under the so-called "moving target" strategy, which aims to achieve at least 95% of the performance of the latest global AI models within six months, these teams have focused on developing their own foundation models.

During the event, each elite team will present the first results of their AI model development and conduct presentations that include live demonstrations of their models. In the lobby of the venue, each team will set up an AI experience booth, allowing attendees to interact directly with the AI models.

This presentation event will operate on a pre-registration basis. Anyone interested can apply by scanning the QR code included in the event poster.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to use this event to share the interim results of independent AI foundation model development with the public, highlight the efforts of the elite teams that have taken on challenging technological development, and broadly gather opinions on future development directions.

Meanwhile, the first phase evaluation will be conducted by January 15, 2026. The government plans to comprehensively review and evaluate the development achievements and future plans of the elite teams.
