The Financial Supervisory Service announced on December 22 that it has carried out its regular personnel appointments, including new promotions and transfers of department heads. This is the first regular personnel reshuffle since Governor Lee Chanjin took office in August.
The most notable aspect of this personnel reshuffle is the appointment of department heads with strong problem-solving and internal and external coordination skills to the newly established Consumer Protection Division, which reports directly to the Governor, as part of the organizational restructuring implemented on this day.
Noh Younghoo, Director General of Consumer Protection Supervision; Lim Kwonsun, Director General of Consumer Damage Prevention; and Park Hyunseop, Director General of Consumer Communication, have all been newly assigned to the Consumer Protection Division through this reshuffle. They will lead departments reporting directly to Governor Lee Chanjin and stand at the forefront of financial consumer protection.
An official from the Financial Supervisory Service explained, "We have appointed senior directors with diverse experience in various financial sectors and consumer protection fields as department heads, so that they can oversee financial consumer protection work across all financial sectors."
It is also noteworthy that female talent, who have accumulated expertise through experience in their respective fields and have demonstrated meticulous leadership, have been appointed to key department head positions.
Jeong Eunjeong, Director General of Bank Supervision; Kim Eunsun, Director General of Accounting Supervision; Jang Youngsim, Director General of Human Resources and Training; Park Jeongeun, Director General of International Affairs; and Moon Jaehee, Director General of Financial Education, are among the major female department heads selected in this reshuffle. An official from the Financial Supervisory Service commented, "All of them are the top experts in their respective fields, having demonstrated outstanding work capabilities as team leaders or practitioners."
Another feature of this personnel reshuffle is the retention of department heads in key departments that urgently need to address current issues such as IT information leaks, virtual asset hacking, stock price manipulation eradication, and sharp rises in foreign exchange rates. Yoo Heejun, Director General of IT Inspection; Byun Jaeun, Director General of Electronic Financial Supervision; Shim Eunseop, Director General of Electronic Financial Inspection; and Jeon Honggyun, Director General of Virtual Asset Investigation, have all retained their positions in this reshuffle.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated that it plans to complete the schedule for regular personnel appointments, including the transfer of team leaders and team members, by mid-January next year.
