Jeonnam Police Develop Integrated App 'K-Guard' for Crime and Accident Prevention Among Foreigners Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency building

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency has developed a customized integrated support application for foreigners called 'K-Guard' to prevent crimes and accidents involving foreigners residing in Korea and to protect their human rights. The agency began pilot operations of the app on December 22.

The main feature of 'K-Guard' is that it consolidates information related to foreigners, which was previously scattered across various agencies such as the National Police Agency, Korea Road Traffic Authority, and Ministry of Employment and Labor, into a single platform. The app is designed to allow foreigners to easily access essential information about crime prevention, traffic safety, and human rights protection needed for daily life in Korea.

This app supports a total of 14 languages, including English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Nepali. It can be accessed via QR code or link, and features simple interpretation functions such as 'PolTalk' to facilitate smooth communication during consultations with police officers.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency plans to use 'K-Guard' not only as an information provider but also as educational material for companies employing foreigners, as well as in various crime prevention initiatives such as crime prevention classes for foreigners. The agency also intends to continuously add new information, such as support systems for crime victims.

This pilot operation will be conducted mainly at Suncheon, Muan, and Yeongam police stations, where foreigner voluntary crime prevention patrols are active, until the end of January 2026. Based on the results of the pilot, the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency will consider making improvements and expanding the app's use across the province.

A representative from the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency stated, "This app was planned and developed directly by police officers to reduce cases where foreigners are exposed to crime or accident risks due to language barriers," adding, "We will continue to strengthen preventive policing activities to ensure foreigners can live safely."
