Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital Launches Pilot Project for Cerebrovascular Disease Human Network in Central and Western North Gyeongsang Province

2025 Stroke Symposium Held

Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital held the '2025 Stroke Symposium' on December 18 at the Emerald Hall on the first floor of Gumi Hotel Geumosan.


Since being selected in May for the pilot project to establish a cerebrovascular disease human network in the central and western regions of North Gyeongsang Province, Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital has been working to connect the local cerebrovascular disease care system more rapidly through collaboration with regional medical institutions.


This symposium was organized to share the progress of the project so far, as well as to promote knowledge exchange and cooperation with local healthcare professionals.

Over 100 people attended the event, including Kim Sungho, Director of Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital, as well as representatives from Gumi Public Health Center, Gumi Fire Station, and medical staff and officials from hospitals in the central and western regions of North Gyeongsang Province (including Gumi, Gimcheon, and Sangju), all coming together to strengthen cooperation in stroke care.


The event began with opening remarks by Professor Yeo Donggyu, the lead specialist for the cerebrovascular human network, followed by a welcoming address from Director Kim Sungho, and congratulatory remarks from Lim Myungseop, Director of Gumi Public Health Center. Professor Shin Daeseop from the Department of Neurology introduced the human network and conducted a training lecture.


In the first session, Professor Ahn Byungjun from the Department of Neurology at Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital discussed the "Medical approach of ischemic stroke," while Professor Yeo Donggyu from the Department of Neurosurgery covered the "Interventional/Surgical approach of ischemic stroke."


In the second session, Professor Kwon Taehyung from the Department of Neurosurgery at CHA University Gumi CHA Hospital presented on the "Interventional approach of hemorrhagic stroke," and Kim Sungho, Director of Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital and Professor of Neurosurgery, gave a presentation on the "Surgical approach of hemorrhagic stroke."


Director Kim Sungho stated, "I sincerely thank all the speakers who presented at today's symposium. As an institution selected for the pilot project, we will do our utmost to provide patients with faster and more systematic treatment."
