Goheung County in South Jeolla Province announced that it held the award ceremony for the 11th Goheung Tourism National Photo Contest, aimed at promoting Goheung's tourist resources and regional charm nationwide, on the 21st at the Goheung Art Center exhibition hall.
This event was hosted by Goheung County and organized by the Goheung Branch of the Korea Photographers Association, with support from the Goheung County Council and the Korea Photographers Association. Approximately 120 people attended the ceremony, including County Governor Gong Youngmin, the chairman of the county council, provincial council members, the president of the Jeonnam branch of the Korea Photographers Association, executives from the headquarters, branch heads and secretaries from 15 Jeonnam branches, representatives of local cultural and arts organizations, members of photography clubs, and visitors.

Under the theme "A Beautiful Photo Journey to Hopeful Goheung, Leaping Forward with Vigor," the contest accepted submissions from October 1 to November 14, attracting a total of 346 entries from across the country and garnering significant attention. The submitted works captured Goheung's diverse aspects through photographic art, including its natural scenery, the lives of its people, the Aerospace Festival, the Citron Festival, drone shows, and hidden major tourist attractions.
The judging took place on November 28, resulting in the final selection of 46 works, including one Grand Prize winner, 11 prize-winning entries, and 35 honorable mentions. The Grand Prize winner receives a certificate from the county governor and a purchase prize of 1 million won, while Silver, Bronze, Special, and Honorable Mention recipients also receive certificates and purchase prizes.
The exhibition held alongside the award ceremony features the winning entries from the contest as well as works by members of the Goheung Branch of the Korea Photographers Association, allowing visitors to appreciate the seasonal landscapes and tourist resources of Goheung in one place. The exhibition is open free of charge to all local residents and visitors.
An official from the county's tourism policy office stated, "This photo contest is a meaningful event that sheds new light on Goheung's hidden charms and tourist resources through photography," adding, "We will continue to widely promote the value of Goheung nationwide through tourism promotion utilizing culture and the arts."
Meanwhile, the Goheung Tourism National Photo Contest has established itself as a leading cultural tourism content that records and promotes Goheung's image through high-quality works every year, and it is expected to be actively utilized as tourism promotional material and exhibition content in the future.
