The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 22nd that it will push for a joint hearing on the Coupang incident for two days starting from the 30th of this month.

Heo Young, Senior Deputy Floor Leader for Policy of the Democratic Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly after concluding a joint meeting of five standing committees related to Coupang and stated, "Beyond the issue of personal information leaks, a variety of issues such as labor and fair trade are intricately interconnected," explaining the party's position.

The five standing committees are the Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee; the Political Affairs Committee; the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee; the Climate, Energy, Environment and Labor Committee; and the Planning and Finance Committee. Among these, Kim Hyun, a Democratic Party lawmaker and the ruling party secretary of the Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, will serve as the chief secretary overseeing the hearing.

The hearing committee will consist of six members from the Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee and two members from each of the other standing committees, with plans to request participation from the People Power Party and other parties. Heo, Senior Deputy Floor Leader for Policy, stated, "The joint hearing will proceed even if it is conducted solely by the Democratic Party."

Since it takes at least seven days to select witnesses, the party plans to immediately submit a request for the appearance of witnesses, including Bom Kim, Chairman of Coupang Inc.

Kim Hyun, the chief secretary, explained, "If Chairman Kim fails to appear, additional legal action may be taken," adding, "The reason for holding the hearing promptly is due to the high level of public interest and the need to address the company's immorality and arrogance."
