570 Billion Won in Fees Waived for 50,000 Customers
Average Savings of 1.14 Million Won Per Person
KakaoBank announced on December 22 that it will extend the waiver period for early repayment fees on mortgage loans by an additional six months.
As a result, all early repayment fees will be fully waived for KakaoBank mortgage loans applied for through the end of June 2026.
The early repayment fee refers to the cost charged to customers who repay their loans before the scheduled repayment date. KakaoBank is the only bank that has been waiving all early repayment fees for every mortgage loan since the launch of its mortgage products.
Since launching its mortgage loan products in February 2022, KakaoBank has provided early repayment fee waivers totaling 57 billion won to approximately 50,000 customers as of October this year. This translates to an average reduction of 1.14 million won in fees per customer.
KakaoBank determines whether to extend its mortgage loan early repayment fee waiver policy every six months, taking into account factors such as stable fund management and loss costs.
A KakaoBank representative stated, "We are returning the operating cost savings achieved through innovative IT technology to our customers in the form of benefits and convenience," adding, "We will continue our efforts to reduce customers' financial burdens in more areas by offering competitive loan rates and fee waiver policies."
