On the 20th, Yook Donghan, Mayor of Chuncheon, held the "Chuncheon Youth-Friendly City Promotion Team Performance Sharing and Youth Communication Meeting" at Hwadong 2571. The event featured a presentation of the main achievements and policy progress of the Youth-Friendly City Promotion Team. It was particularly meaningful as it went beyond a formal report, providing a space for direct communication between the youth and the mayor.

The Chuncheon Youth-Friendly City Promotion Team, launched in September, has focused on discovering youth policies and expanding youth participation. The team has collected on-the-ground feedback through youth policy studies and policy monitoring, and has promoted youth-friendly city policies to citizens through the Youth Success Era Challenge and on-site publicity at university and local events.

Additionally, young people candidly shared the practical difficulties they face in areas such as employment, housing, and cultural conditions while living in the region, as well as the policy improvements needed for them to stay and grow in Chuncheon. One member of the promotion team stated, "Continuous policy support is needed so that young people can plan for their future in the region."

In response, Mayor Yook emphasized, "Youth policy should not be something created and handed down by the administration, but rather a process where young people take the lead and the administration implements together," adding, "I will take responsible action to ensure that young people can stay, take on challenges, and grow in Chuncheon."

There was also recognition for the achievements of the Chuncheon Youth-Friendly City Promotion Team. At the "2025 National Youth Policy Idea Contest" hosted by the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, the Gangwonon team and the Milal Dure Sinaetmuldeul team from Chuncheon’s promotion team both received encouragement awards. Chuncheon was the only local government where two teams advanced to the finals and received awards among more than 300 teams nationwide.

Through this meeting, Chuncheon City reaffirmed the direction of "youth-led administration," positioning young people not merely as policy beneficiaries but as active participants in the planning and implementation of policies.

A city official stated, "This event was a meaningful opportunity to share the achievements of the youth-friendly city initiative and to communicate directly with young people," adding, "We will continue on-site communication to ensure that the perspectives of young people are reflected in policy."
