On December 20, President Lee Jaemyung announced a significant expansion of support for heating costs, food, and daily necessities for vulnerable groups during the winter season.

On his Facebook page that day, President Lee stated, "The government must play a responsible role to ensure that more warmth reaches those who are struggling the most."

He pointed out, "Recently, the burden on vulnerable groups using kerosene and LPG has been increasing," and promised, "We will significantly increase energy voucher support to help alleviate the pain of heating costs, even if just a little."

He also declared, "To ease concerns about grocery prices at the end of the year, we will hold discount events for agricultural, livestock, and fisheries products. In addition, we will expand the 'Just Give' program, which provides food and daily necessities to anyone in need."

He emphasized, "I am determined to ensure that the tragic reality of people turning away from the world due to hunger will disappear once and for all."

In particular, President Lee explained, "As we enter the winter season, we must establish comprehensive measures to carefully address all areas of life, including safety, care, income, housing, and mobility. More than anything, what is needed is proactive and meticulous administration that protects those in the welfare blind spots with a seamless and robust 'social safety mattress.'"

Addressing government ministries and public officials, President Lee said, "Depending on how a single public servant acts and makes decisions, people's lives can be greatly improved or, in some cases, even pushed to the brink. I urge all public officials to join forces so that the public can spend this winter safely and warmly."

He remarked, "As winter deepens, the cold grows harsher. But just as greater pain is always left in places that are already struggling, the same cold does not bring the same weight of suffering to everyone."
