The police announced on December 22 that they had cracked down on approximately 37,800 cases in areas with frequent violations, including illegal dumping of garbage, disturbances caused by drunken behavior, unauthorized posting of advertisements, as well as incidents of eating without paying and fare evasion.
The National Police Agency explained that, as a result of implementing a plan to establish basic order and intensively crack down on illegal flyers from July to December, there was a significant decrease in reports to the 112 emergency hotline and complaints submitted via the National Petition System. Specifically, 112 emergency calls decreased by 8.3% and complaints to the National Petition System fell by 16.7% compared to the same period last year.
Through enforcement actions against illegal flyers, the police apprehended a total of 119 people in 101 cases, including 13 cases of prostitution mediation, 10 cases of illegal drug sales, 30 cases of illegal debt collection, and 36 cases of illegal flyer production and distribution.
A police official stated, "We plan to continue and intensify efforts to eradicate disorderly conduct in daily life in order to create a safer and more pleasant urban environment that citizens can truly feel."
