Four CSAT Subjects Weighted at '35-25-25-15%'
A Total of 412 Students to Be Recruited in the Ga, Na, and Da Groups for Regular Admissions
Sahmyook University will recruit a total of 412 students for the 2026 regular admissions in the Ga, Na, and Da groups. Students will be selected from departments such as the Future Convergence Liberal Arts Department (162 students), Creative Convergence Liberal Arts Department (99 students), as well as the Department of Pharmacy (21 students), Department of Nursing (33 students), Department of Physical Therapy (16 students), and Department of Data Cloud Engineering (9 students). All departments except for those in the arts and physical education fields will select students based 100% on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) score, and cross-application is allowed regardless of whether the applicant is from the humanities or sciences.
For general departments (excluding the Department of Pharmacy and arts & physical education), four areas are reflected: Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry (one subject). The scores are weighted as follows: 35% for the highest, 25% for the next, 25% for the next, and 15% for the last. For applicants to science-based departments, those who take Mathematics (Geometry or Calculus) will receive an additional 3% on their score for those subjects. English scores are converted according to the university’s own conversion table, ranging from 98 points for grade 1 to 30 points for grade 9. For the Inquiry section, social studies, science, and vocational studies are all accepted, but Korean history cannot be used as a substitute.
The Department of Pharmacy will recruit 21 students (19 general admissions, 2 rural special admissions) in the Na group. The weighting is as follows: Korean 25%, Mathematics 30%, English 25%, and Inquiry (average of two subjects) 20%. Students who take social studies or probability and statistics, which are commonly chosen by humanities students, are also eligible to apply. However, those who choose Mathematics (Geometry or Calculus) will receive an additional 5% on their scores, and those who select two science subjects for Inquiry will receive an additional 3%. Vocational studies are not accepted, and Korean history cannot be used as a substitute for Inquiry.
For arts and physical education departments such as the Department of Physical Education (Ga group), Art and Design Department (Ga group), and Music Department (Da group), practical test scores are also reflected. The Department of Physical Education combines 60% CSAT and 40% practical test, while the Art and Design Department combines 51% CSAT and 49% practical test. The Music Department places greater emphasis on practical skills, reflecting 20% CSAT and 80% practical test.
For the arts and physical education fields, the CSAT score is calculated by taking the two highest scores among Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry (one subject), each weighted at 50%. Vocational studies are accepted, but Korean history cannot be used as a substitute. The Department of Physical Education reflects the CSAT percentile, while the Art and Design and Music Departments use their own converted scores based on grade. For these two departments, the difference in scores between grades 1 and 7 is only 2 to 4 points, so the practical test effectively determines the final outcome.
The Liberal Arts Department, which operates a major-free system allowing students to freely choose their major, only recruits students through the regular admissions process. Of the total 412 students recruited this year, 261 (63.3%) are allocated to this department. In the Ga group, 99 students are recruited for the Creative Convergence Liberal Arts Department (humanities track), and in the Na group, 162 students are recruited for the Future Convergence Liberal Arts Department (science track). The Liberal Arts Department supports broad exploration of majors during the first year, and students can choose their own major according to their interests and aptitude when advancing to the second year. This is an expanded system from the traditional department-based education, aiming to foster talent with convergent thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Meanwhile, starting this year, all admissions tracks will take into account ‘school violence disciplinary actions.’ For actions classified as categories 1 to 3, 5 points will be deducted from the total score; for categories 4 to 5, 10 points; for categories 6 to 7, 20 points; and for categories 8 to 9, 100 points will be deducted. Applications for all groups (Ga, Na, Da) will be accepted from December 29 to December 31. Document submission is open from the start of application until January 5 at 5:00 p.m. The announcement of successful applicants will be made on January 29.
