Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 19th that it held a completion ceremony on the 18th for the "Wongok-dong Public Building Attached Parking Lot Modernization Project," which was promoted to alleviate parking shortages in the multicultural village special zone of Wongok-dong, Danwon-gu.

This project involved modernizing the attached parking lot located between the Wongok-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the Multicultural Migrant Center. The existing flat parking lot, which occupied a 1,050-square-meter site, was transformed into a two-story, three-level structure with a total floor area of 2,099 square meters. As a result, the number of parking spaces increased by 2.2 times, from 43 to 95.

Previously, the city had been implementing phased improvements to the parking environment in the multicultural village special zone to resolve chronic parking shortages and revitalize the local commercial district. Last year, the city invested 11 billion won to expand the public parking lot at 995-1 Buburo, Wongok-dong, increasing the number of parking spaces from 89 to 300. With the completion of this attached parking lot modernization, the area now has a large-scale public parking infrastructure totaling 395 spaces.

Together with this expansion of parking infrastructure, the city plans to begin construction next year on the "Wongok-dong Street Mall" (tentative name) to further invigorate the local commercial district. This commercial and cultural complex, based in the multicultural village special zone, will offer a variety of attractions, food, and entertainment.

Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "By resolving the parking shortage, we will create an environment that is convenient for both residents and visitors," adding, "We will further boost local vitality through synergy with the Wongok-dong Street Mall, which will begin construction next year."
