The district announced on December 19 that the proposal for the designation of a redevelopment area and the determination of a redevelopment plan for the area around 393-66 Daebang-dong, as part of the station area revitalization project, was approved with amendments at the 19th Seoul City Urban Planning Committee meeting held on December 17.

The Daebang-dong area is densely populated with old low-rise residential buildings and suffers from generally poor infrastructure, such as narrow and disconnected roads. To address this, the district selected the area as a pilot site for the "Dongjak-style Redevelopment Project" in 2023, proposing a station area revitalization model tailored to local conditions and successfully led the selection of the target site by engaging with residents.

With the approval from this review, the project is expected to accelerate further. According to the redevelopment plan, the area will be upgraded from Type 2 and 3 general residential zones to quasi-residential and neighborhood commercial zones. It is set to be transformed into a mixed-use complex comprising residential, commercial, business, and public facilities, with three basement levels and 39 above-ground floors, and a total floor area of approximately 127,000 square meters.

Additionally, the district plans to reorganize Sindebangsamgeori into the "Sindebangsageori" intersection to dramatically improve road functions and the transportation system. Efforts will also be made to enhance pedestrian convenience, including installing an escalator at Exit 5 of Sindebangsamgeori Station and creating a public pedestrian passage adjacent to Daerim Elementary School.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, "We expect that the launch of the revitalization project for the northern part of Sindebangsamgeori Station will give momentum to development projects throughout the Daebang-dong area," adding, "We will continue to successfully lead Dongjak-style redevelopment projects and reshape the map of Dongjak."
