Silla University (President Heo Namsik) RISE Project Group has operated a talent development program in collaboration with the western Busan region.
The Silla University RISE Project Group, in line with the regional innovation direction of the Busan-type RISE project, provided students with opportunities to link their major competencies with local issue-solving through practical training delivered directly by experts from local institutions and industries.
On December 9, the Department of Police Administration invited Professor Kim Sunseok, Oh Suhan, Head of Crime Prevention and Response at Busan Bukbu Police Station, and Park Sunju, Head of Women and Youth Affairs at Busan Yeonje Police Station, as lecturers to hold the "Police Academy for Solving Community Issues."
Special lectures were held on topics reflecting the unique characteristics of Busan, including community policing, crime prevention, youth issues, and women and traffic safety. Through these lectures, students experienced real-life case studies from the field.
In addition, the program strengthened field-based, problem-solving learning structures by encouraging students to discuss ways to improve recurring daily civil complaints and safety issues in the local area.
The Department of Beauty Care invited Jang Suhyang, CEO of Mel Aroma, and Jang Hayoung, instructor at Good Morning Beauty Academy, to run an educational program on health management services from December 9 to 11.
Students received practical training in nail art, hair care, and aromatherapy to provide health and wellness services to local residents.
Based on the skills acquired through this program, students from the Department of Beauty Care plan to visit and volunteer for marginalized groups and the elderly in the community. They are also planning various activities to improve access to beauty and healthcare services.
On December 11, a "RISE-Linked Special Lecture on the Revised Fire Management Business Law" was held for students of the Department of Fire Safety and Emergency Rescue.
Do Yeonhee, CEO of Seum Technology Group, participated as a lecturer and explained the latest trends among fire inspection companies, as well as the key points and field applications of the revised fire management business law.
The three programs in the fields of public safety, health, and safety were organized to enable universities, institutions, and industries based in the region to collaborate in seeking solutions by connecting local issues with students' majors.
This program is characterized by allowing students to directly experience their roles as members of the local community in practical, everyday areas, and by linking their major competencies to solving local issues. It serves as an example of the "talent development model that grows together with the community" pursued by the Busan-type RISE initiative.
Hwang Inju, Head of the Silla University RISE Project Group, emphasized, "This program is significant in that the university and local institutions are working together, centered around the western Busan hub, to nurture talent that can immediately function in the field. We will further expand collaborative education focused on the fields needed by the community, thereby strengthening the RISE talent development system that grows together with the local community."
Silla University continues to expand its collaborative education model centered on the western Busan region. The university plans to further foster practical talent closely aligned with daily life to address local issues and meet industrial demand.
