Gijang County in Busan Selected as Outstanding Local Government for Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon Execution

Ministry of the Interior and Safety Recognizes Performance Among 243 Local Governments Nationwide
Secures Special Grant of 150 Million Won

Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) was selected as an outstanding local government in the "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon Execution Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 150 million won.

This evaluation comprehensively reviewed the performance of consumption coupon execution across 243 local governments nationwide. The quantitative and qualitative assessment was based on criteria such as: ▲performance in distributing consumption coupons, ▲efforts to expand eligible usage locations, ▲improvements in application and distribution convenience, ▲promotional activities, and ▲outstanding case studies.

Gijang County received high marks for mobilizing its entire administrative capacity to ensure the rapid and seamless distribution of consumption coupons. The county established on-site reception centers in each town and township, and deployed a large workforce-including county staff, the Youth Administrative Experience Group, volunteers, village leaders, and temporary workers-to strengthen on-site response capabilities.

Additionally, by securing extra county funds, the county reinforced personnel and IT equipment and expanded reception counters, significantly reducing residents’ waiting times. Notably, Gijang County focused on providing tailored convenience for residents by mailing information letters to vulnerable groups who had not yet applied and actively operating a "visiting application service," which was highly regarded.

Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "Being selected as an outstanding local government is the result of all our staff working together to ensure the rapid and smooth distribution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons," adding, "We will continue to implement policies to revitalize the local economy in ways that both small business owners and residents can truly feel."

Gijang County plans to use the special grant secured this time for projects that will help revitalize the local economy and stabilize the lives of residents.
