A librarian at a library shared a story about finding a note of apology and some money inside a returned book that appeared to be wrinkled and damaged.
On the 17th, a post titled "A Damaged Book Was Returned to the School Library" was uploaded to an online community. The shared photo showed a book with wrinkled pages, and when it was opened for inspection, an unexpected item was found inside.
Inside the book were a sticky note and some money. The note read, "I spilled water on it. I am sorry. Please use this money to buy a new book." There was one 10,000-won bill, two 1,000-won bills, and 700 won in coins. It appeared that the student had left the exact amount matching the price written on the back cover of the book.
The librarian, who checked the price to order a replacement, found that the amount left was more than the online sale price, so the difference was returned to the student. The librarian also wrote a note saying, "Fortunately, I was able to buy the book at a discounted price. I am returning the remaining amount to you. Thank you for taking responsibility," and added, "I hope you continue to cherish the books you read."

Online users responded warmly, commenting, "The student could have pretended not to notice, but chose to do the right thing," "Both the student who honestly took responsibility and the librarian who kindly returned the gesture are touching," "This is how children learn social skills and grow," and "Stories like this are truly healing."
