High Marks for Emergency Reduction Measures and Implementation of the 6th Seasonal Management System
Muju County in North Jeolla Province has been selected as an outstanding institution in the "2025 Fine Dust Reduction Assessment" organized by North Jeolla Province Special Self-Governing Province.
According to the county on December 18, this assessment reviewed the implementation status of fine dust reduction policies in 14 cities and counties within the province, examining 28 indicators across 7 areas to identify and spread best practices.
The county received high marks for its execution of emergency reduction measures, implementation of the 6th seasonal management system, expansion of zero-emission vehicle distribution, operation of cooling fog systems to reduce fine dust, and public awareness campaigns on fine dust reduction measures.
In particular, the county earned high scores by conducting "visiting environmental education" in 100 villages, fostering a culture of resident-led fine dust reduction practices.
The county has completed the "Plan for the Implementation of the 7th Fine Dust Seasonal Management System" and intends to accelerate fine dust reduction measures through March next year, including strengthening the collection and disposal of agricultural waste and crackdowns on illegal burning.
Choi Seongyong, Director of the Environmental Division of Muju County, stated, "The various policies we have promoted to reduce fine dust have led to tangible results on the ground, allowing us to achieve this outcome. We will continue to do our best to create a clean air environment by implementing policies tailored to local characteristics, such as reducing emissions from old diesel vehicles, expanding eco-friendly transportation infrastructure, and conducting year-round crackdowns on illegal burning."
Meanwhile, the "7th Fine Dust Seasonal Management System Implementation Plan" includes enhanced fine dust reduction measures compared to normal periods in five areas: transportation, daily life, workplaces, policy, and public awareness.
