Jinan County Shares 'Administrative Direction' at Next Year's Major Business Plan Meeting

Promotion of Major Projects Including Improvement of National Road No. 26 and Attraction of Pumped-Storage Power Plant

On December 18, Jinan County in North Jeolla Province held the "2026 Major Business Plan Reporting Meeting" at the county office auditorium, where it reviewed the mid- to long-term direction for county administration and key initiatives.


The meeting was attended by about 150 participants, including heads of departments, divisions, offices, and teams. It was organized to share the main achievements of the 8th popularly elected administration and to discuss each department’s key work plans in preparation for the launch of the 9th administration in 2026.

Jinan County achieved notable results, including ranking third nationwide in the 2025 Rural Quality of Life Index, securing 502.5 billion won in national funding, and being selected for 57 government-sponsored projects, thereby earning external recognition for its administrative capabilities.


In particular, the county improved residential conditions by establishing rural study-abroad housing facilities and happy housing, and increased the resident population through various tourism festivals and large-scale sports events. As a result, the population increased by 80 people for the first time this year as of December 12, marking a positive change.


Additionally, the creation of a smart farm complex has brought innovation to the agricultural structure, and the cumulative sales of local food stores reached 50 billion won, contributing to increased farm income. Furthermore, the county demonstrated its administrative strength by receiving a total of 45 awards, including an A grade in the national basic local government pledge implementation evaluation.


Next year’s main work will focus on: ▲ key policies to realize the county’s vision ▲ new projects to strengthen regional competitiveness ▲ measures to expand administrative services that residents can feel ▲ and tasks centered on strategies to secure national and provincial funding.


In particular, as the "Year of Visiting Jinan" begins and the Provincial Sports Festival is held, next year is expected to serve as an important turning point to promote Jinan both internally and externally. The county also plans to establish a pilot model for dam management and create new growth engines.


In addition, the county will accelerate the implementation of major projects such as the improvement of National Road No. 26, attracting a pumped-storage power plant, building a complex platform in the Hakcheon District, urban development in the Wollang District, and the industrialization of medicinal forest crops in the Jideok-gwon area, aiming to bring about changes that residents can directly experience.


The meeting especially emphasized the importance of implementing effective policies that reflect the changing administrative environment and local conditions, as well as strengthening interdepartmental collaboration.


The county plans to actively incorporate the feedback and suggestions presented at this meeting into future work plans, striving for performance-oriented county administration that delivers tangible results for residents.


County Governor Jeon Choonseong stated, "Next year is a crucial period to prepare for the future of the county," and added, "I hope that, through this meeting, all public officials will take responsibility and do their utmost to promote policies for the happiness of residents and the development of the region."
