Last Year's National Heritage Restoration Craftsman Training Program Completion Ceremony Site

Ninety-five specialists in national heritage restoration have completed their training program and will now be deployed to work sites.

The Traditional Culture Education Center at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage will hold the 2025 National Heritage Restoration Craftsman Training Program completion ceremony at 2 p.m. on December 18 in the main auditorium.

This training program is a one-year, non-degree course designed to cultivate national heritage restoration craftsmen. It offers hands-on restoration training in twenty-five categories, including dancheong (traditional decorative coloring), reproduction, lacquerware, woodcraft, ironwork, and mounting.

Since its establishment in 2012, the program has produced a total of 1,438 graduates. As of the end of last year, 503 individuals had obtained national heritage restoration craftsman certificates, and 929 were working at restoration sites or workshops.

This year’s graduates include fifty-seven from the basic course, twenty-five from the advanced course, and thirteen from the field-commissioned course. Seventeen outstanding students will receive the President’s Award.

To ensure the stable operation of the training program, Korea National University of Cultural Heritage has established a new support grant for young people aged 19 to 34 this year and introduced a preferential selection system for youth, low-income individuals, and national merit recipients.
