"Just Plug In for Charging and Payment"... Hyundai Motor Group Expands PnC Network

Hyundai Motor Group announced on December 18 that it will begin a full-scale expansion next year of its 'Plug and Charge (PnC)' charging network, which allows all processes-from member authentication to charging and payment-to be completed at once simply by connecting the electric vehicle charging cable.

PnC, an international standard technology, differs from conventional electric vehicle charging that requires a membership card or credit card. Instead, it uses encrypted communication between the vehicle and the charger, providing a safe and convenient service.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to expand the PnC charging experience, currently available at 64 E-pit charging stations, in collaboration with 12 major domestic charging service providers.

First, in the first quarter of 2026, Hyundai Motor Group will work with Chaevi and Hyundai Engineering to apply PnC technology to existing charging stations operated by both companies. This will increase the number of PnC-enabled charging stations to more than 1,500, and the company will then accelerate the expansion of the charging network in partnership with the remaining 10 companies.

In the second half of the year, Hyundai Motor Group plans to validate communication protocols and payment systems in line with the government's policy to expand the distribution of smart-controlled chargers, and make PnC charging available at slow chargers as well.

A Hyundai Motor Group representative stated, "The expansion of PnC services is the first step toward providing a more convenient charging experience in more locations," adding, "We will continue our efforts to innovate charging infrastructure in cooperation with the government."
