Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul (Mayor Cho Hogwon) announced that it has secured an additional 3 billion won in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the second half of 2025. The district plans to use the funds to expand the park golf course and install a pedestrian bridge over Dorimcheon, among other projects to build community-focused infrastructure.

Yeongdeungpo District Secures Additional 3 Billion Won in Special Grants Cho Hogwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District. Provided by Yeongdeungpo District Office.

On December 18, the district stated that, following the 3 billion won secured in the first half of this year, it has obtained the same amount for the second half, bringing the total special grants for the year to 6 billion won. The successful budget acquisition was attributed to thoroughly reflecting residents' demands in project plans through community meetings and on-site feedback.

The special grants will be primarily invested in improving sports facilities and pedestrian environments. Of the total, 1.1 billion won will be allocated to expand the park golf course at Yangpyeong Nuri Sports Park along Anyangcheon, significantly enhancing the district's sports infrastructure. Ten billion won will be used to install a pedestrian bridge over Dorimcheon (connecting Dorim-dong and Sindorim Station), which is expected to greatly improve the walking environment.

Additionally, 600 million won will be allocated to create a vehicle access road at Yeongdeungpo No. 3 Sports Center, and 300 million won will be used to establish and improve rest areas along Dorimcheon, further enhancing residents' access to leisure and convenience facilities.

The district plans to use these special grants to systematically expand sports facilities and rest areas, as well as improve pedestrian environments and facility accessibility. It also expects that securing external funding will ease the district's financial burden and enhance fiscal soundness.

Mayor Cho Hogwon stated, "We were able to secure funding by closely coordinating with central government agencies to ensure that key projects closely related to residents' daily lives proceed without a hitch. We will continue to actively utilize external resources to reduce the district's financial burden while delivering tangible changes that residents can feel."
