Soongsil University Wins Two Excellence Awards at 'LAB Start-up 2025'

The Startup Support Group at Soongsil University announced on the 19th that it had received two Excellence Awards in the exhibition category at the 11th Laboratory Startup Festival, 'LAB Start-up 2025' IR and Exhibition Competition, held at Gwanggaeto Hall, Sejong University, Seoul, during the '2025 Public Research Outcomes Expansion Expo'.

In this competition, 26 teams from across the country advanced to the finals. Soongsil University had four laboratories make it to the exhibition finals, and among them, two laboratories were honored with the Excellence Award. This achievement was made at a major public technology startup event that brings together laboratory startup teams from universities and research institutes nationwide.

The award-winning technologies were Professor Jung Suhwan's (AI Security Lab, School of Electronic Information Engineering) 'Deepfake Voice Detection Technology' and Professor Lee Jeongjin's (33Lab, School of Global Media) 'Generative AI-Based VR and Live Streaming Immersive Content Production Technology.' Both technologies were highly evaluated for having been concretized into startup items tailored to market demand.

Professor Jung Suhwan stated, "Receiving a meaningful award at this initial stage is significant," and added, "We will further advance the technology we have developed and grow into a company that leads the restoration of digital content trust in the AI era." Professor Lee Jeongjin said, "Thanks to the systematic support of the Startup Support Group, we were able to thoroughly prepare for laboratory-based entrepreneurship," and noted, "This award serves as a great confidence boost for actual commercialization."
