This seminar was organized to align with Pocheon City's strategy to become a defense industry hub, following its recent success in attracting the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center, and to concretize Daejin University's role and cooperation models as a local university for nurturing defense talent.
Approximately 100 participants, including experts in the defense industry, research institutions, and industry representatives, attended the seminar. The attendees gave presentations and engaged in discussions on topics such as directions for developing defense technologies, establishing systems for training specialized personnel, expanding test and certification infrastructure, and fostering future defense sectors such as drones and FPVs. They explored ways to build a defense industry ecosystem tailored to the Northern Gyeonggi region.
Through the joint hosting of this seminar, Daejin University expressed its commitment to actively participate in the creation of the K-Defense Cluster promoted by Pocheon City and to establish a virtuous cycle that connects the university’s academic and research capabilities with the development of the local defense industry.
In particular, the university plans to strengthen field-oriented curricula focusing on related majors such as engineering, IT, and drones, and to expand internships, field training, and joint projects in collaboration with defense companies, thereby building a practical industry-academia-research cooperation model.
President Jang Seokhwan of Daejin University stated, "As a key pillar in revitalizing the Northern Gyeonggi K-Defense industry, Daejin University will faithfully fulfill its core roles of education and research while actively supporting the development of the local defense industry. Based on the industry-academia-research cooperation models derived from this seminar, we will continue to enhance the technological competitiveness of local defense companies and nurture customized talent to contribute to the defense sector."
Daejin University plans to continue to drive the sustainable growth of the Northern Gyeonggi K-Defense industry by building a close cooperative system with related organizations such as Gyeonggi Province, Pocheon City, and the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center, and to establish itself as a hub for defense-specialized education and research that contributes to regional and national development.
