The special investigation team at the National Police Agency stated in a press release on the same day, "We referred the complaint against Special Prosecutor Min and others for dereliction of duty to the CIO yesterday in accordance with relevant regulations."

Previously, on December 11, the People Power Party filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, accusing Special Prosecutor Min Jungki's team of dereliction of duty for allegedly failing to investigate even after recognizing circumstances involving the Unification Church's provision of money and valuables.

Cho Bae-sook, Chairperson of the People Power Party's Special Committee for the Protection of Judicial Justice and Prevention of Dictatorship, stated, "The special prosecutor's team conducted a biased investigation by only searching the People Power Party headquarters, despite being aware of suspicions involving the Democratic Party. It is unreasonable for them to claim that the case falls outside the scope of their investigation when, under the Special Prosecutor Act, they are allowed to investigate cases they become aware of."
