At the awards ceremony held at the Government Complex Sejong that day, Chuncheon City received the award as the representative among all city-level basic local governments nationwide. Out of 243 local governments across the country that implemented the livelihood recovery consumption coupon policy, Chuncheon was classified as one of 193 outstanding institutions. It was further recognized for its exceptional execution, earning an 'A' grade, which places it in the top 20% of all local governments nationwide. As an additional prize, the city secured a special grant of 200 million won.
The livelihood recovery consumption coupon was a policy in which the government provided support to all citizens in two phases starting in July. Depending on household income, the support ranged from 180,000 won to a maximum of 530,000 won.
This top-tier achievement by Chuncheon City was made possible through meticulous administrative planning and the enthusiastic participation of its citizens. The coupon application rate in the first phase was 99.27%, surpassing the national average of 99%, and the second phase reached 98.45%, also exceeding the national average of 97.5%.
This high participation rate led to a recovery in the local economy. A total of 80 billion won was spent in Chuncheon, mainly in neighborhood shopping districts, serving as a catalyst for the recovery of the local economy.
Additionally, the city’s detailed, citizen-centered administrative support was highly praised. The city operated a home-visit application service for seniors and people with disabilities who had difficulty moving, with public officials visiting them directly. During the second phase, the city proactively revisited those who had received home visits in the first phase, demonstrating active administration.
Mayor Yuk Donghan stated, "Achieving recognition as an outstanding local government is a valuable result of the citizens' determination to revitalize the local economy and the efforts of public officials," adding, "The 200 million won in special grants we have secured will be used carefully for the benefit of citizens, including resolving local issues."
