The deadline for toll fee support for the Incheon Bridge and Yeongjong Bridge, which applies to residents of Yeongjongdo in Incheon and Bukdo-myeon in Ongjin-gun, has been extended by three years.
According to the Incheon city government on December 16, the city council held a plenary session the previous day and passed a revision to the "Ordinance on Toll Fee Support for the Airport Expressway and Incheon Bridge," extending its validity period from December 31 of this year to December 2028.
This amendment also includes the addition of privately leased vehicles (rental cars) to the list of those eligible for toll fee support. Previously, even if residents were eligible for support, they could not receive the benefits if the vehicle was registered under a rental car company.
The city has also unified the toll reduction method, which was previously divided between "discount cards" and "Hi-Pass cards," to the Hi-Pass card system. Existing discount cards can only be used until March 31 of next year. Users of discount cards must obtain and register a Hi-Pass card through banks, convenience stores, or the Korea Expressway Corporation.
Since 2004 and 2009, respectively, the city has been providing toll fee support for residents using the Yeongjong Bridge and Incheon Bridge.
An official from the Incheon city government stated, "With this ordinance revision, we expect to reduce the economic burden on Yeongjong area residents who use the Incheon Bridge and Airport Expressway, as well as to help disperse the sudden changes in traffic patterns following the opening of the Third Link Bridge."
