Police Conduct Additional Search at Kim Keonhee Special Prosecutor’s Office... President Han Hakja to Be Questioned Tomorrow

The police have launched an additional search and seizure operation at the special prosecutor's office investigating Kim Keonhee, in connection with allegations that political figures received money and valuables from the Unification Church.

The Special Investigation Task Force of the National Police Agency began the additional search and seizure at around 10 a.m. on December 16, 2025. On December 17, the team plans to question President Han Hakja, who is currently detained at Seoul Detention Center.


The task force conducted search and seizure operations at ten locations the previous day, including Cheonjeonggung, the Unification Church’s headquarters; the residences of former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jeon Jae-soo, former Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jongseong, and former United Future Party lawmaker Kim Gyuhwan; Jeon Jae-soo’s parliamentary office; and Seoul Detention Center, where former Unification Church World Headquarters Director Yoon Youngho is being held.


According to reports, the warrant states that around 2018, former Minister Jeon Jae-soo allegedly received 20 million won in cash and a luxury watch worth about 10 million won, while former lawmakers Lim Jongseong and Kim Gyuhwan each allegedly received approximately 30 million won in money and valuables around the April 2020 general election.


The police plan to conduct digital forensics on the mobile phones and PC files of these three individuals. Based on the analysis results, they are expected to summon them for questioning soon.
