[2026 Regular Admissions] Hanyang University to Recruit 1,457 Students... All Initial Group B Admits to Receive 50% Tuition Scholarship for 2 Years

Abolition of Mandatory CSAT Subjects
Early Introduction of 10% Comprehensive Student Record Evaluation

Hanyang University will admit a total of 1,457 students for the 2026 regular admissions: 1,280 within the quota and 177 outside the quota. The breakdown is 730 students in Group A, 667 in Group B, and 60 in Group C (including those outside the quota). The final number of students to be admitted, reflecting the number of students carried over from early admissions, will be announced on the Admissions Office website on December 26.

For the 2026 regular admissions, all mandatory subject requirements for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) will be abolished across all admission tracks and academic divisions. As the previous requirements for natural sciences-such as mandatory selection of Mathematics (Geometry/Calculus) and the restriction of two Science Inquiry subjects-have been removed, applicants are now free to choose any subjects regardless of their intended division.

The CSAT score weighting and calculation methods differ by division. For the natural sciences division, Korean is weighted at 25%, Mathematics at 40%, English at 10%, and Inquiry (two subjects from Social Studies or Science) at 25%. For the humanities division, Korean is 35%, Mathematics 30%, English 10%, and Inquiry 25%. For the business and economics division (including the Department of Clothing and Textiles, Department of Interior Architecture and Design, and Hanyang Intercollege), Korean and Mathematics are each weighted at 35%, English at 10%, and Inquiry at 20%. The CSAT scores are calculated using standardized scores for Korean and Mathematics, grades for English and Korean History, and university-specific converted standardized scores for the Inquiry section.

There are no mandatory Inquiry subjects, and Second Foreign Language/Chinese Characters are not considered in any division. Korean History is a required subject for all divisions and majors. With the removal of division-specific mandatory subjects, applicants can now apply across all divisions.

For the 2026 regular admissions, the number of students admitted within the quota has increased for some advanced departments in the College of Engineering. The School of Integrated Electronic Engineering will admit 79 students in Group B, the Department of Future Automotive Engineering will admit 29 students in Group B, and the Department of Data Science will admit 30 students in Group B.

A new component, the comprehensive student record evaluation, will account for 10% in the CSAT-based admissions track. This will apply to the general and special admissions in Groups A, B, and C, but will not apply to the Department of Sports Industry Science (Sports Science major) and the Department of Theater and Film (Directing and Staff/Acting). The 10% comprehensive student record evaluation has been introduced in advance to diversify the admissions criteria for the 2028 admissions cycle, and its actual impact on this year’s admissions is expected to be minimal.

All students who are initially accepted through the Group B general admissions track (excluding special admissions, arts and sports divisions, the Department of Semiconductor Engineering, and the Department of Pre-Medicine) will receive a scholarship covering 50% of tuition for two years. To maintain the scholarship, students must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.75 in the previous semester. Scholarship eligibility is reviewed each semester, and scholarships are awarded within the maximum number of semesters a student is registered.
