The Netflix variety show 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War 2' will be released starting with episodes 1 to 3 at 5:00 p.m. on December 16. This sequel comes about one year after the release of Season 1.
According to Netflix, a total of 100 chefs will participate in Season 2. The lineup includes 80 "black spoon" chefs, 18 "white spoon" chefs, and 2 hidden "white spoon" chefs.
The "white spoon" chef team features Michelin two-star chef Lee Jun, as well as Son Jongwon, Monk Sunjae, Hudeokjuk, Park Hyonam, Jung Hoyoung, Sam Kim, Raymon Kim, Song Hoon, Lim Sunggeun, Kim Heeun, Chun Sanghyun, Choi Yugang, Jenny Walden, Shim Sungcheol, Lee Geumhee, Kim Sungwoon, and Kim Gun. The "black spoon" chefs are contestants who each highlight their own keywords, such as "Prince of Seochon," "Culinary Monster," "Kitchen Boss," "Culinary Scientist," and "Barbecue Lab Director."
The judges, Baek Jongwon and Chef An Sungjae, will return from Season 1. The blind judging and "endless cooking hell" missions will continue, but the "team elimination" rule, which received negative feedback in Season 1, has been removed. The production team stated, "The level of competition has intensified compared to Season 1."
Producers Kim Hakmin and Kim Eunji commented, "More chefs have decided to participate because they resonate with the program's purpose," adding, "We have prepared the show so that the chefs taking on the challenge can fully demonstrate their abilities."
Meanwhile, regarding the changing public opinion surrounding judge Baek Jongwon, Netflix stated, "We will leave it up to the viewers to decide."
