First, starting at 9:00 p.m. on December 31, the '2026 Samcheok Beach Countdown' event will take place on the deck stage at Samcheok Beach. The event will feature citizen-participation quizzes and activities, celebratory performances, and a countdown show, creating an opportunity to celebrate both the end of the year and the beginning of the new year together.

In particular, singer Tei, well-known for songs such as 'Love Leaves a Scent' and 'Same Pillow,' will give a special performance. Around the venue, a 'Memory Recycling Box,' where visitors can reflect on the past year, and a 'Wishing Tree,' symbolizing hopes for a fresh start, will be set up. In addition, a drone light show, symbolically representing both the close of the year and hopes for the new year, will illuminate the night sky.

At dawn on January 1, the first day of the new year, sunrise events will be held simultaneously in all nine towns and districts within Samcheok. These will include pre-dawn performances such as Nanta and Samulnori, the reading of New Year’s messages, the ringing of the sunrise bell, and the sharing of rice cake soup and fish cake soup. Each region will host its own unique festivities, making it a meaningful occasion for citizens and tourists to share their hopes for the new year.

A Samcheok City official said, "We are preparing so that citizens and tourists visiting the venue can enjoy the events comfortably," adding, "We hope that watching the sunset and sunrise by the sea in Samcheok will become a special memory to start the new year."
