On October 27, the city conducted an integrated linkage drill at the Gimpo Gold Line, simulating a complex disaster scenario involving an earthquake and a fire in a densely populated facility. The drill connected the disaster site (Gimpo Hangang Vehicle Base) and the disaster situation room (Gimpo City Hall).
This drill, led by Gimpo City, Gimpo Fire Station, and Gimpo Gold Line SRS, brought together a total of 17 organizations and groups, with over 250 participants. The focus was on strengthening initial response capabilities through on-site and discussion-based training, including inter-agency communication and cooperation systems, fire suppression, and passenger evacuation (rescue). The city received high scores across all 17 evaluation indicators, leading to its selection as an excellent institution.
Kim Byungsoo, Mayor of Gimpo City, stated, "Receiving an 'excellent' rating in the Safe Korea Drill evaluation for the second year in a row is the result of the collective efforts of all participating organizations and groups to ensure the safety of Gimpo citizens in their daily lives. The golden time during a disaster is the critical period to minimize casualties, and failure in the initial response can lead to large-scale loss of life. Based on the results of this drill, we will further strengthen the city's initial response capabilities and do our utmost to make Gimpo a safer city."
