Establishment of Korea's First AI College
Nurturing Talent in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity
Soongsil University will select 1,357 students (including those outside the regular quota), accounting for 44.8% of the total 3,031 students to be admitted through the regular admission process for the 2026 academic year. By admission type, 1,252 students will be selected through the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT)-focused track, and 61 students through the practical skills-focused track.
For the CSAT-focused general admission, 425 students will be selected in Group A, 245 in Group B, and 427 in Group C, using a 100% CSAT-based selection process. For the practical skills-focused general admission, 61 students will be selected in Group C, with 70% based on practical skills and 30% based on CSAT scores, using a unified selection process. For the CSAT-focused special admissions outside the regular quota (for rural students, specialized high school graduates, students from low-income families, those in the second-lowest income bracket, and single-parent families), 147 students will be selected, also based on 100% CSAT scores, just like the general admission. For specialized high school graduates who are currently employed, 44 students will be selected through the comprehensive student record screening process, with 100% based on the document review.
This year, Soongsil University established Korea's first AI-specialized college to nurture talent for the AI era. The AI College’s Department of AI Software, which was newly established by integrating the existing Department of Software and the Department of AI Convergence as a flexible major selection unit (Type 2), will select a total of 80 students in Group A of the 2026 regular admissions.
The School of Liberal Arts will select a total of 356 students through the CSAT-focused general admission, dividing the recruitment into 'Humanities' and 'Natural Sciences' tracks. The School of Liberal Arts (Humanities) will select 165 students in Group C, while the School of Liberal Arts (Natural Sciences) will select 191 students in Group B.
Soongsil University offers a special scholarship program for students admitted to the School of Liberal Arts. If a student is among the top 30% of successful applicants based on total admission scores, they will receive a 50% tuition waiver for two years (up to four consecutive regular semesters) and a one-time academic encouragement grant of 2 million KRW to support study abroad programs.
The percentage breakdown of CSAT subject areas (Korean, Mathematics, English, Inquiry) for each recruitment category is as follows: Humanities - 35, 20, 20, 25; Business and Economics - 25, 30, 20, 25; School of Liberal Arts (Humanities) - 30, 25, 20, 25; Natural Sciences 1, 2, and School of Liberal Arts (Natural Sciences) - 20, 35, 20, 25. For arts and physical education, 50% is based on Korean and 50% on English.
Soongsil University, in collaboration with LG Uplus, will recruit new students for the Department of Information Security to foster specialized talent in the field of cyber security. The Department of Information Security will select 8 students in Group C of the CSAT-focused general admission, based entirely on CSAT scores.
Applications will be accepted from December 29 to December 31. The practical skills test for the Department of Creative Arts (Creative Writing major) will be held on January 23, 2026, and for the Department of Sports Science between January 22 and January 25, 2026. The list of successful candidates will be announced on February 2, 2026.
