Ahn Gwilyeong Files Complaint Against Former Commander Kim Hyuntae Over "Staged Firearm Seizure" Claims

Ahn Gwilyeong, Deputy Spokesperson of the Presidential Office, who confronted martial law troops in the National Assembly during the 12·3 Martial Law, has filed a complaint, claiming that her reputation was damaged by false testimony from Kim Hyuntae, former commander of the 707th Special Mission Battalion.

On December 15, Ahn's side announced that they had filed a complaint against former Commander Kim at the Seocho Police Station in Seoul on charges of defamation by spreading false information.

According to Ahn's side, former Commander Kim is accused of giving false testimony as a witness during the trial for Kim Yonghyeon, former Minister of National Defense, and others, who are charged with participating in an insurrection, which was held on December 9 at the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Gwiyoun), thereby defaming Deputy Spokesperson Ahn.

At that time, former Commander Kim testified to the effect that "I saw her preparing for filming, even putting on makeup," and "she tried to seize firearms in a staged manner," which Ahn's side claims are false statements.

Deputy Spokesperson Ahn also plans to file a civil lawsuit for damages in the near future.
