According to the city on December 15, the exhibition will showcase 10 picture books that were planned, written, and illustrated by the children themselves over a 20-week creative process.
The "Children's Picture Book Author Training Program" is a creative education initiative operated as part of Iksan City's Special Education Development Zone project. It supported elementary school students in grades 3 to 6 in creating their own stories and expressing them through illustrations, ultimately enabling them to complete their own picture books.
The program was led by picture book author Kim Hyekyung and focused on hands-on classes, covering everything from story composition and character design to the production of dummy books.
At the exhibition, not only the completed picture books but also original illustrations and photos of the production process will be on display, allowing visitors to explore the world as seen by the children and the warm stories contained within. A city official stated, "We organized this exhibition to share with citizens the process of children growing as authors by completing their own picture books," and added, "We will continue to operate creative programs that children and families can participate in together."
