The Pocheon City Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeonggi Province was selected as an outstanding institution in the '2025 Agricultural Informationization and Data Utilization' evaluation, organized by the Rural Development Administration on December 12.
To realize data-driven agriculture, the Pocheon City Agricultural Technology Center actively promoted the distribution of data collection equipment to local farms, achieving a data collection installation rate of 78.3% and an equipment integration rate of 78.1%, thereby establishing a stable system for securing data. In particular, by proactively linking the existing smart farm support system with a new agricultural data platform, the center minimized data gaps and significantly improved on-site utilization.
The center has focused on shifting farming practices from experience- and intuition-based approaches to data-driven scientific agriculture. By building a data ecosystem and real-time monitoring system, and analyzing winter temperature data, the center optimized curtain opening and closing times to prevent cold damage and reduce heating costs.
Additionally, by comparing and analyzing data from leading farms, the center suggested ways to increase yields and supported early detection of abnormal signs such as sudden changes in temperature and humidity by providing precise nutrient management guidance tailored to crop growth stages and utilizing environmental data graphs (WHAT). As a result of this precise technical guidance, the number of data-driven remote consultations increased by approximately 13%, from 167 cases in 2024 to 189 cases by the end of October 2025.
Pocheon City also achieved cost savings of approximately 1.6 billion won by strategically choosing to adopt and expand the Rural Development Administration's central data platform instead of building its own servers. Furthermore, the city enhanced the quality of agricultural education by shifting to advanced, field data-driven training that visualizes actual farm environment data. Through this, farmers strengthened their smart agriculture capabilities that can be immediately applied on-site.
Lee Kyungsook, Director of the Pocheon City Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Being selected as an outstanding institution is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates how Pocheon's agriculture has advanced to the next level through digital transformation. Moving forward, we will continue to provide customized technical guidance using data and improve budget efficiency to substantially increase farm incomes and build Pocheon as a city of future agriculture."
