"Why Take Away Someone's Job Over Something That Deserves Only a Reprimand?"
Singer MC Mong has publicly expressed his support for comedian Park Narae, who has temporarily suspended her activities due to a personal controversy, as well as broadcaster Jo Seho. He criticized the excessive backlash, stating, "Why should someone lose their job over something that could be resolved with a reprimand?"
MC Mong Defends Park Narae and Jo Seho: "Public Officials Return to Work Even After Causing Trouble"
On December 14, MC Mong posted on his Instagram, "It's too much to see people who used to laugh and enjoy Park Narae's variety shows now speak as if they had foreseen everything the moment a controversy arises." He continued, "For entertainers who step down, if they have done something wrong, they should not hide but honestly clarify their position and accept the criticism they deserve."
He particularly pointed out, "Public officials return to work the day after causing trouble," and questioned, "By what right do people try to take away someone's job over something that could be resolved with a reprimand?" Addressing Park Narae, he advised, "Sincerely resolve what needs to be resolved with your managers. If you have something to be criticized for, face it without hiding, and unlike me, never hide forever-make people laugh even more."
Post Deleted After Controversy: "I Wrote It So People Wouldn’t Be Too Afraid"
As debates continued online, MC Mong deleted the post and clarified, "I never intended to stir up controversy or attract attention." He added, "Strangely, even if someone just shares my post, it immediately becomes the top real-time news," and explained, "I only wrote down a passing thought like a doodle." He further stated, "I wrote it hoping that someone else wouldn't make the same mistake I did, or to tell people not to be too afraid."
Controversy Continues Despite Suspension of Activities
Previously, on December 3, Park Narae's former managers filed for a provisional seizure of her real estate at the Seoul Western District Court, claiming they suffered workplace harassment, special assault, proxy prescriptions, unpaid project expenses, and other forms of abuse during their employment. They also alleged personal mistreatment, such as being forced to run errands for snacks, being pressured to attend drinking parties, and being on standby 24 hours a day. Furthermore, they claimed that Park Narae falsely registered her ex-boyfriend as an official employee of her agency and paid him approximately 44 million won over 11 months from January to November this year. In August, they alleged that she transferred over 300 million won to help her ex-boyfriend secure a rental deposit, and subsequently filed a complaint against Park Narae for alleged embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
In response, Park Narae's side stated, "After receiving their severance pay, the former managers additionally demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's previous year's sales. The requested amount continued to increase, eventually reaching several hundred million won," and filed a countersuit against the former managers for blackmail. Park Narae then declared, "I have decided to suspend all broadcasting activities until everything is resolved clearly," and stepped down from programs such as MBC TV's 'I Live Alone' and tvN's 'Amazing Saturday.'
Jo Seho recently became embroiled in controversy due to rumors of a close relationship with a gang member surnamed Choi, fueled by suspicions that he indirectly supported Choi's business. His agency, A2Z Entertainment, stated, "Jo Seho and Mr. Choi are merely acquaintances and there was no exchange of money or valuables," and announced plans for legal action against the whistleblower. Subsequently, Jo Seho voluntarily stepped down from programs such as tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block.'
