[Photo] Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok Announces Final Results of Insurrection Probe

Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok is announcing the results of the investigation, including the motives and initial preparations for former President Yoon Sukyeol's declaration of martial law, at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on December 15. The Special Prosecutor for Insurrection concluded that former President Yoon's motive for declaring martial law on December 3 of last year was "to eliminate political opposition forces, regardless of party affiliation." The investigation found that it was an illegal imposition of martial law intended to arrest and detain opposing forces, including not only the then-opposition Democratic Party of Korea but also figures such as former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon, without lawful warrants.
