Suspected Mistress of Infidelity, Revealed Affair to Husband
Stalking, Photo Distribution, and Threats to Husband... Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
A man in his 40s who stalked his mistress, whom he met at a golf gathering, and even threatened her husband, has been sentenced to prison. The court considered his extensive criminal record, including several previous prison sentences for similar offenses, as a significant factor in its decision.
On December 14, the Criminal Division 1 of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Court (presiding judge Park Kwangsun) announced that it had sentenced Mr. A to four years in prison and a fine of 2 million won for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (threats using recordings, etc.) and the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes. Mr. A was also ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment and stalking treatment programs, and his personal information will be made public for five years. In addition, he is prohibited from working at institutions related to children and adolescents for five years.

Mr. A was indicted on charges of capturing and distributing a video in which Ms. B, a woman in her 40s whom he met at a golf gathering in Pohang in April, showed part of her body during a video call after suspecting her of infidelity during their four-month relationship. When Ms. B cut off contact and disappeared, Mr. A stalked her a total of 123 times over 28 days via phone calls and messages. He also informed Ms. B's husband, Mr. C, about the affair and sent him the captured photos of Ms. B.
Mr. A was also charged with performing illegal tattoo procedures. After being released from prison on March 26, 2023, following a one-year sentence for illegal tattooing, he received 9 million won from Ms. D and performed illegal tattoos using tattoo machines and needles on her entire body from May 2023 to May 2024.
"Shows no remorse despite multiple convictions... Heavy sentence inevitable"
The court explained the sentencing, stating, "The defendant threatened the victims by saying he would distribute their photos to their children's schools or local communities. He also has a history of several prison sentences for similar crimes, including the illegal tattooing offense, yet has shown no remorse and committed these crimes again during the repeat offender period. Therefore, a heavy sentence is unavoidable."
