6 p.m. on December 17 and 20 at the "Path of History"
The National Museum of Korea announced on December 15 that, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its Yongsan location and surpassing six million visitors, it will present the Museum Culture Festival special performance, "The Time We Could Not Know Each Other: The Ball of Life," together with the National Museum Foundation. The performances will take place at 6 p.m. on December 17 and 20 in the museum’s "Path of History."
This performance marks the final stage of the 2025 Museum Culture Festival, which has been ongoing since 2014. Directed by Kim Ara, the show features veteran actors Park Jeongja, Kim Seonhwa, and Kang Manhong, among others. It reinterprets the works of Austrian Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Peter Handke from a Korean perspective, and will be held as a "borderless performance" where visitors and actors naturally mingle at the entrance of the exhibition hall. More than 20 actors will participate, performing throughout the museum without a fixed stage to deliver a unique sense of immersion and lingering impression.
This year, the Museum Culture Festival held 18 performances at the National Museum of Korea since April, including a historical musical commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation, as well as a variety of other programs that received enthusiastic responses from visitors. Diverse performances were also held at 11 regional national museums, including those in Gyeongju and Buyeo.
Yoo Hongjun, Director of the National Museum of Korea, stated, "This year has been a special one for the National Museum of Korea, welcoming the largest number of visitors since its opening. I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has cherished and supported the museum," adding, "Going forward, the museum will continue to be a space where vibrant exhibitions and diverse cultures come alive and interact with one another."
