Police: "Conducting Search and Seizure at 10 Locations Including Unification Church Cheonjeonggung in Gapyeong"

On December 15, the police launched a compulsory investigation into allegations that political figures received money and valuables from the Unification Church.

The Special Investigation Task Force of the National Police Agency announced in a press release that, starting at around 9 a.m. on this day, it was executing search and seizure warrants at 10 locations, including the Cheonjeonggung Palace of the Unification Church.


Previously, on December 11, the task force booked former Minister Jeon Jae-soo, former Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jongseong, and former United Future Party lawmaker Kim Kyuhwan as suspects and imposed travel bans. They are reportedly under investigation for violations of the Political Funds Act or for accepting bribes.


It has also been reported that Jeong Dongyoung, Minister of Unification, and Na Kyungwon, lawmaker of the People Power Party, who were named by former Unification Church World Headquarters chief Yoon Youngho along with the three aforementioned individuals in testimony to the special prosecutor, were not specifically mentioned in connection with the receipt of money or valuables.
