Hwacheon Community Center to Recruit 92 New Students for 2026 All-Day Care Classes Hwacheon Community Center, an all-day elementary care classroom in Hwacheon County, is recruiting new students for next year. Provided by Hwacheon County

The center will accept applications for next year's participants from December 18 to December 24 at the Operations Support Office on the fourth floor.

The total number of students to be admitted is 92, including 48 first graders and 44 second graders.

Students from families with three or more children will be given priority in selection, while the remaining spots will be filled by lottery.

The most significant change in next year's operation is the introduction of the "Plus Care Class."

The center plans to operate two classes per grade as basic classes (three periods) from 2:20 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and additionally, two first-grade classes and one second-grade class as Plus Care Classes (four periods) from 2:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This change takes into account parents' working hours, and the final scale of the Plus Care Class will be determined after surveying parental demand.

Opened in February last year, Hwacheon Community Center is the nation’s first all-day care facility led by a local government.

It is characterized by its specialized English education, with both native English-speaking and Korean homeroom teachers assigned to each class under the "Two Homeroom Teacher System."

The center also offers a variety of sports and reading programs, as well as activities to improve basic academic skills, literacy, and individual talents.

Care classes are available during both summer and winter vacations, and learning camps for subjects such as English and math are also provided during breaks, receiving positive feedback from parents.

Hwacheon County will begin construction next year on a similar all-day care facility in Sachang-ri, Sanae-myeon, to serve the same function.

Choi Moonsun, Mayor of Hwacheon County, said, "We are doing our best to introduce high-quality care programs that will satisfy both parents and children, helping to reduce the burden of child-rearing."
