Sokcho City in Gangwon Province has finalized the selection of 97 exemplary restaurants for 2026.
The exemplary restaurant program is implemented to improve hygienic meal standards and enhance the level of friendly service. A total of 109 establishments applied, and 97 were selected after a comprehensive evaluation of hygiene, service quality, and taste, as well as on-site inspections based on the "Good Meal Practice Standards" and a review by the Food Culture Improvement Promotion Committee.
There are 16 newly designated establishments this year. Among them, the city comprehensively considered the designation criteria and operational conditions to select the top four establishments-Banggane Beef Soup Rice (Gyodong), Chaikan (Gyodong), Seorakbonga Butcher Restaurant (Joyang-dong), and Seoraksan Korean Beef (Domun-dong)-as recipients of the official plaques.
The plaque presentation ceremony for these four establishments was held on the 15th. The city plans to complete the production and distribution of signs for all 97 exemplary restaurants selected for 2026 by December 19.
Meanwhile, the selected exemplary restaurants will receive various benefits, including quarterly support for water and sewage fees (covering 30% of usage), provision of pay-as-you-throw garbage bags, and promotional opportunities through various media outlets and the city website.
Lee Byungseon, Mayor of Sokcho, stated, "We expect that the selection of exemplary restaurants this year will help create a safe and high-quality dining environment where both local residents and tourists can enjoy hygienic and quality food with peace of mind."
